John is running another Introductory Spearfishing course this February for those wanting to get into the sport but don't know where to start or if you have just started but need a little bit of extra knowledge to help you progress faster.
A great opportunity to get your techniques fine tuned for our
Spearfishing Competition on Saturday 27th February 2010
- Course cost will be $295 which includes:
- 2 theory sessions covering equipment, physiology and safety as well as diving and hunting techniques.
- 1 pool session covering breathing and diving techniques as well as loading spearguns (I still have to convince the pool to let us shoot them)
- A day on a charter boat to apply what you've learnt as well as looking at site selection, target species and, all going well, filleting, recipes and cooking
- Use of spearguns, floats, floatlines and stringers
- Course Timetable:
- Tuesday 2nd Feb - Theory Session 6:00 - 10:00pm
- Wednesday 3rd Feb - Theory & Pool Session 6:00 - 10:00pm
- The Sea Day will be held on the first weekend after the class sessions with good weather. Once back at the beach, early afternoon, we will fillet & cook our catch and maybe even have a few beverages by the BBQ. Time & Location to be confirmed during the course as it is weather dependant.
