Five years ago the team at Dive & Ski HQ decided that the Volunteer Wellington Coastguard deserved our support. They provide a great service to divers and others that love the ocean and spend a lot of time out on, in and under the water.<\/p>\n

Our biggest fundraising effort occurs in November when we run our 24 Hour Dive but we are always ready to lend a hand when required.<\/p>\n

\nLast month we were invited to participate in their annual raft race in Evan’s Bay.
\nThis sounded like a fun way to offer our support so plans were made, supplies gathered and a raft was born!<\/p>\n

We roped a team together & met up at the Coastguard Base on Evans Bay to check out our opposition. There were teams from Coastguard (unsurprisingly), the Police, Victoria University and us.<\/p>\n

It was hard work but a lot of fun though team tactics and a revised raft & paddles may be called for in 2017.<\/p>\n

We came 4th which sounds pretty good until you realise only 5 teams participated this year.<\/p>\n
