As part of the Instructor Development process our Instructor candidates write a brief history of their diving to date and what they would like to get out of diving in the future.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0don’t remember learning how to swim,
\nI’ve always been able to
\nGrowing up in Wellington
\nThe sea is part of you<\/p>\n

Rivers, beaches and Marine Reserves
\nPlay a vital part
\nTo keep Wellington beautiful
\nAnd special in my heart<\/p>\n

Swimming, kayaking and snorkeling
\nLed me to the sea
\nIt was only a matter of time
\nBefore SCUBA called to me<\/p>\n

I was Open Water certified
\nin July 2011
\nMy eyes were now open
\nTo a new liquid heaven<\/p>\n

The water was cold
\nA chilly 9 degrees
\nBut I ws not deterred
\nNot shaking at the knees<\/p>\n

Now free to explore
\nAnd log adventures of my own
\nI head to Australia
\nA home away from home<\/p>\n

New creatures to uncover
\nTheir wonders fill my mind
\nWobbegongs and Sea Dragons
\nWhat a wicked find<\/p>\n

Home again to further
\nMy diving education
\nBecome a PADI Scuba Instructor
\nThat is my vocation<\/p>\n

From Open Water and Advanced
\nTo Rescue and Dive Master
\nDeveloping my new skills
\nMy mind is racing faster<\/p>\n

Drift, Deep and Boat diving
\nAll have their special place
\nBut Kau Bay on a night dive
\nPuts a smile on my face<\/p>\n

Noctiluca, shy Sea Horse
\nAnd the graceful Eagle Ray
\nLeave me energetic and excited
\nIn a peaceful kind of way<\/p>\n

As I dive in more locations
\nExperiencing wonder and awe
\nOne thing has become clear to me
\nTouching my very core<\/p>\n

Natural, clean and pure
\nIs what an ocean ought to be
\nVibrant and healthy
\nWith no marine debris<\/p>\n

Project AWARE offer
\nHope and education
\nFor those who are eager
\nTo change the state of our ocean<\/p>\n

I dream of a world
\nFree from rubbish in our sea
\nAnd when I’m a PADI Instructor
\nThis will be my philosophy
\nTeamwork and respect
