Our club divers enjoyed their trip with Waikawa Dive to explore 5 wrecks and the Marlborough Sounds.
Two wrecks sank on the same day in March 1874.
Little remains to be seen of these historic wrecks but with a little insight and local knowledge you can explore the wreckage at Owhiro Bay
After several failed attempts to head north this year we took advantage of direct flights to Kerikeri for a weekend of diving in the Bay of Islands. Craig from Paihia Dive collected us from the airport and after a quick game of Tetris with 8 divers and 16+ bags we were off to Paihia where […]
After Christmas lunch, sitting around and relaxing; the subject of an unknown wreck pricked the ears of the divers in the room. “Grandad’ was bought up and later worked around Terawhiti Station, near Red Rocks and used to snorkel a wreck in that area. The wreck of the SS Penguin was mentioned but the location […]

Sitting in 36m of water, you can find the resting place of the 176m cruise liner the Mikhail Lermontov, the largest wreck in the Southern Hemisphere. The Lermontov sank on the 16th February 1986, from damage sustained to its port side […]

We only had TWO objectives for this trip – go NORTH & go DIVING! With 2400ks travelled and 17 dives in 11 days I think we met these objectives. Our first stop was Taupo and some fresh water diving – a novel experience for the others and a good demonstration of thermoclines – it is […]
